Welcome to Duke City Civitan Club - Since 1964 Exemplifying Service Knowledge and Fellowship
Duke City Civitan is proud of the hands-on projects we take on each year. Together, our members average as many as 500 hours of activities each month.
We hope you will join us in supporting our community!
Did You Know?
- DCC members contribute hundreds of hours to our community every year, to organizations such as The Red Cross, Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico and Adelante. Although we give of our time freely, if this time was to be purchased at minimum wage it represents thousands of dollars in savings to the groups supported. Savings they can use to directly help people.NASCAR legend Richard Petty is a Civitan. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thomas Edison and John F. Kennedy were all Civitans.
- Civitan was founded in 1917 by a group of business and professional leaders who were meeting in Birmingham, Alabama. Civitan is the fastest growing service club in the world and was the first all-male service club to freely admit women to membership (1974.) Duke City Civitan was founded in 1964 and our members contribute hundreds of hours of community service every month (and have fun doing it!)
Our Projects Include
We do a number of one-day and short-term projects, for a wide variety of arts and service organizations. And,we always welcome ideas from our members! Let's give back to our community; it's good for all of us!
Title I Homeless Students
We help by providing needed supplies for students.
This is a major project for Civitans worldwide. We volunteer at the local, state and regional games, running the Olympic Village, providing refreshments, and generally doing whatever is needed to make the event a success. Special Olympics New Mexico provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience and joy.
We collect gently used blankets and winter-wear for our homeless of Albuquerque.
Ronald McDonald House & Casa Esperanza
Our club members collect travel soaps and shampoos for Casa Esperanza families. We also collect pop tops for Ronald Mc Donald House.
